A JPG is ideal for sharing photos, but each time it is edited and saved again it loses a little more detail. Converting to PNG gives you a lossless working copy: every later save keeps the pixels as they are. This JPG to PNG converter accepts .jpg, .jpeg and .jfif files and has PNG preselected. Note that it does not make the background transparent; for that, use the background remover.

Does JPG to PNG improve quality?

No. The PNG keeps exactly what the JPG contains, including any compression blocks or blur already in it. It stops further loss, but it does not add detail. If you need a sharper image, start from the original file or a higher-resolution source.
Good to know
Can I make a JPG background transparent?
Changing the format alone does not do it: a JPG has no transparent pixels, so the PNG copy has the same solid background. To cut out a person, pet or product, use the background remover, which produces a transparent PNG directly.
Why Convertola
Why is the PNG so much bigger than the JPG?
JPG throws away detail the eye barely notices; PNG keeps every pixel. A photo can easily become several times larger as PNG. If size matters, raise Lossless compression, tick Fewer colors, smaller file, or reduce the dimensions. For a small file that still looks great, JPG to WebP is usually the better choice.
Good to know
Is my image safe?

The JPG is uploaded over an encrypted connection and converted on Convertola's server. The converted file is deleted automatically after 15 minutes, and location and camera data are removed unless you tick Preserve metadata and location.
