How to use the MP3 converter

192 kbps is the starting point for music and voice. 128 kbps is smaller. 256 and 320 kbps keep more of the source.

What this MP3 converter accepts
Input files
The MP3 converter reads MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV, M4A, AAC, MP3, WAV, FLAC, and OGG. A picture track is discarded and the audio is saved as MP3. A file with no audio track is rejected.
Bitrate
192 kbps is a practical default. 128 kbps is often enough for speech and podcasts. 320 kbps uses more space and cannot add detail the source never had.
Where the file is processed
The MP3 is created in your browser with FFmpeg. Convertola downloads the converter engine. Your audio or video is not sent to the site.
Size limit
One file at a time, up to 150 MB. A phone can run out of memory on a very large video, which is why the limit exists.

Music, voice, and recordings
Use the MP3 converter when a player, a car stereo, an editor, or an email needs a widely supported audio file. A voice memo, a meeting recording, or a music track you already have can share the same output.
Size compared with WAV
A one-minute stereo WAV at CD settings is about 31.8 MB. The same minute at 192 kbps is about 4.3 MB. The smaller file is lossy, so it is not a perfect copy of the WAV.

It runs in the mobile browser. A very large video can exhaust memory, so the size limit is there for that reason.
Is my file uploaded?
