Heavy photos are one of the most common reasons a page loads slowly. WebP usually stores a photo in fewer bytes than JPEG at similar visual quality, and every current browser displays it. This JPG to WebP converter turns one .jpg or .jpeg at a time into WebP, and lets you resize it to the width your layout really uses. Need the reverse? Try WebP to JPG.
How it works
How do I convert JPG to WebP?

Click Choose a JPG image or drop the .jpg or .jpeg file onto the converter.
Keep WebP as the output format.
Set the Quality slider and, if needed, a smaller width under Dimensions (px).
Click Download to save the WebP.
Why Convertola
Why use WebP on a website?
Faster loading
Smaller image files mean less data to download, which helps page speed on mobile connections.
Same look
At a good quality setting, a WebP photo looks the same as the JPG to most visitors.
One format for photos and graphics
WebP handles photos, flat graphics and transparency, so one format can cover most of a site.

What quality should I choose for WebP?

The default is 100, the highest setting, which keeps the most detail but saves the least space. For photos on a website, a value around 75 to 85 is a common balance; watch the Size estimate and the preview as you move the slider. Images with fine text or sharp lines may need a higher value. Converting a JPG to WebP re-compresses it, so start from the best JPG you have.
Good to know
Will WebP work everywhere?
All current versions of the major browsers display WebP, and most website builders and content systems accept it. Some older desktop programs, printers and email clients still prefer JPG. Keep your original JPG as a backup, and use WebP for the version you publish online.
Good to know
Is my image safe?

The JPG is uploaded over an encrypted connection and converted on Convertola's server. The converted file is deleted automatically after 15 minutes. Location and camera metadata are removed unless you choose to preserve them, which is usually what you want for photos posted online.
Limits
Limits of the JPG to WebP page
One image at a time, up to 10 MB. The page creates still WebP images only, not animations, and does not convert folders in bulk. Other input formats work in the main image converter.
