Logos, stickers, product cutouts and icons saved from a website often arrive as .webp. If you need to drop one into a presentation, an older editor or a print layout, a PNG is the safer choice. This WebP to PNG converter writes a PNG and keeps any see-through areas exactly as they are. For a photo that does not need transparency, WebP to JPG gives a smaller file.

PNG is the format designers, office apps and image editors have supported for decades. WebP is newer and mainly built for browsers.

Good to know

Does WebP to PNG keep the transparent background?

A finished file with a download button and a check mark

Yes. The alpha channel is carried into the PNG, so a cutout or logo stays see-through. Converting to PNG also adds no new compression loss: PNG stores every pixel it receives. It cannot restore detail that a lossy WebP already removed, so the PNG looks the same as the WebP, not sharper.

Why Convertola

Why is my PNG larger than the WebP?

PNG keeps every pixel without loss, while most web WebP files use lossy compression. A photo can grow several times when saved as PNG. To bring the size down, raise Lossless compression, tick Fewer colors, smaller file (best for flat graphics), or reduce the Dimensions (px). The size estimate updates before you download.

The WebP is sent over an encrypted connection and converted on Convertola's server. The converted file is deleted automatically after 15 minutes, and metadata is removed unless you choose to preserve it. No sign-up is needed.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about WebP to PNG

Is the WebP to PNG converter free?

Yes. It is free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Will the transparent background stay?

Yes. Transparent and semi-transparent pixels are kept in the PNG.

Is PNG better quality than WebP?

PNG is lossless, so it adds no further loss. It cannot bring back detail already lost in a lossy WebP.

How do I make the PNG smaller?

Tick Fewer colors, smaller file, raise Lossless compression or reduce the dimensions.

Can I use the PNG in slides and documents?

Yes. PNG opens in presentation, word-processing and design software, transparency included.

Can I remove a background while converting?

Not on this page. Use the free background remover to cut out the subject, then download a transparent PNG.
