Files you convert
MP3 converter. Files are converted in your browser with FFmpeg (WebAssembly) and are never uploaded. The converter engine is downloaded from our server and contains none of your data.
Background remover. Images are processed in your browser and are never uploaded. On first use, your browser downloads the model files from Convertola. That request does not include your image.
Image converter. Images are uploaded over HTTPS and processed on our server.
- The original image is processed in memory and is not stored.
- The converted image and its file name are stored under a random, unguessable link and deleted after 15 minutes. Anyone with the link can download the file until then.
- Metadata such as location is removed unless you choose to keep it.
- Files are processed automatically and are not viewed by anyone or used for any other purpose.
Contact messages
When you contact us, we process your name, email address, message, the page language and your confirmation that you have read this policy. We use this data only to reply and to handle your request.
- Messages are delivered to our mailbox (hello@convertola.com, hosted by Hostinger).
- A backup copy is stored on our server and deleted after 30 days.
- Email correspondence is deleted 12 months after the last reply, unless it is needed for a legal claim.
Technical data
To prevent abuse, the server counts requests per network address (8 image conversions per minute, 40 per hour and 5 contact messages per hour). These counters are held in memory only and reset within one hour. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, time, requested URL, browser) for security, under its own retention rules. Our application logs record error types only.

Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity load only after you select "Accept" or enable Analytics in "Settings". If you reject, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, they do not load. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer.
Google Analytics receives the pages you visit, the referring site, your approximate location, and your device and browser type. It does not store IP addresses and never receives your files, file names or messages. Google signals and ad personalization are off, and data is kept for 2 months. Microsoft Clarity records the same kind of visit, plus clicks and how the page is used, so we can see where the site is hard to follow. It never receives your files, file names or messages.

International transfers
Our website is hosted by Hostinger on servers in the United Kingdom, with backups stored in Germany. The United Kingdom is recognized as providing an adequate level of data protection. If you accept analytics, Google and Microsoft may process that data in the United States.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to its processing, and withdraw your consent at any time. Send your request to hello@convertola.com from the email address you used to contact us. We respond within 30 days. You can also file a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children
Convertola is not directed at children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The site uses HTTPS with HSTS and a strict Content Security Policy. Converted files are stored outside the public web directory under random 128-bit names and are readable only by the server.
Changes
We update this policy when our data practices change, and we revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes are announced on the site.
