Audio conversion uses FFmpeg through the single-threaded @ffmpeg/core 0.12.10 build, licensed under GPL-2.0-or-later. FFmpeg. ffmpeg.wasm.
OGG files turn up in game soundtracks and mods, Linux and open-source apps, Wikipedia audio clips, and some voice recorders and messaging apps. They sound good but are refused by iPhones' Music app, many car stereos and some editors. This free OGG to MP3 converter gives you an MP3 copy that plays everywhere, without uploading the file. For .opus files, use OPUS to MP3.

- Click Browse files or drag the .ogg file onto the converter.

What is an OGG file?
Ogg is an open container format from the Xiph.Org Foundation. The .ogg extension says nothing about the sound inside, which is usually one of two codecs:
| Codec inside the OGG | Typical use | MP3 bitrate to choose |
|---|---|---|
| Vorbis | Music, games, older open-source apps | 192 or 256 kbps |
| Opus | Voice recordings, newer apps, calls | 128 kbps for voice, 192 kbps for music |
Both kinds convert here; we tested OGG files with Vorbis and with Opus. Ogg can also carry FLAC audio; such files are rare and usually end in .oga.
Is OGG better than MP3?
On sound per megabyte, yes. Vorbis and especially Opus sound cleaner than MP3 at the same bitrate. MP3 wins on support: it plays on practically every device made in the last 25 years. Convert when a device or app will not open your OGG; otherwise, keep it.
In our test, one minute of Vorbis at quality 5 weighed 730,036 bytes. The MP3 at 192 kbps weighed 1,441,375 bytes, about twice as much. Expect your MP3 to be larger than the OGG.
Will converting OGG to MP3 reduce quality?
A little, because the audio is decoded and compressed again in another lossy format. At 192 kbps or more for music, the change is very hard to hear. Raising the bitrate beyond the source's quality does not help.
Why won't my OGG file play?
iPhone and iPad apps, many car stereos, older smart TVs and some web upload forms do not support Ogg. Converting to MP3 is the simplest fix. If the file is from a game, check its license before sharing the converted audio.
Limits of the OGG to MP3 page
This page accepts .ogg files only, up to 150 MB and one at a time. It does not batch-convert folders and does not download audio from links. For other formats, use the main MP3 converter.
Frequently asked questions about OGG to MP3
Is this OGG to MP3 converter free?

No. It stays on your device.
Can I convert OGG files that contain Opus?
Yes. OGG files with Opus or Vorbis audio both convert to MP3.
Why is my MP3 bigger than the OGG?
